Dear Registered Monitors of Voices from the Field (VfF),

As we all prepare to welcome the New Year, we would like to ask if you could kindly send some special words of encouragement to the survivors of March 11th. They are likely reminiscing about the holiday season of last year and wondering how things could change so much in just a year. They surely have mixed feelings as they leave 2011 behind and step forward into 2012. The one-year anniversary of the event is also approaching. We believe that your words will help remind the survivors that they are not forgotten and that people from all over the world continue to pray for their recovery. Please send your message to the VfF.

Wishing you a happy new year,
The VfF Japan team

Dear Japanese Friends,

Your friends in the U.S. and around the world wish peace and love, and a bright future for you this holiday time. A new year is a time to look forward, and we wish a better new year for you in 2012. The world has admired the perseverance and strength of the Tohoku survivors, and the collective support given by the Japanese people.

Please know that we hold you in our hearts.

Merry Christmas!

A few days ago I was preparing Christmas presents for my friends and family and I am so very grateful that I have them, because in March we have all seen, how fast everything can change.

I hope that people all over the world remember, how lucky they are to have their loved ones around them this Christmas.

I cannot imagine how lonely people must feel during holiday season, who have lost their loved ones in March. I wish I could send some comfort to Tohoku, but some things only time can heal.

Me and my family, we do remember - this tragedy will not be forgotten! We visited Tohoku several times and we were impressed by the openminded friendly people. And now we see how they fight for a good future, this makes us very happy. The deceased will be in our hearts, so that our minds can look into the future.

You and your neighbors have suffered in 2011. You are grieving and wondering about your future. These are real and natural feelings. So take a minute to look at at your city and neighborhood. Recovery has begun. New stores, in temporary buildings, have opened. The signs of destruction are slowly being removed and replaced by signs of your new future. Please try and think of recovery as a path to your new future. This is a path you can held build. So participate in local meetings, advocate for what will make you and your family viable in the next year. Overall remember that there are people all over the country that think about you and care for your well being. Please participate in civic affairs, and take care of your family as only you can. Welcome help from others, and act collectively.
